Firefighters prevent house destruction as blaze burns near Alambra community

A fire that broke out on Saturday morning in the Alambra community burned through agricultural land and dry vegetation while threatening a nearby residence, according to official statements. The Department of Forests of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment reported that the outbreak occurred at approximately 9:40 a.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2026. Response teams brought the blaze under complete control by 10:00 a.m. after it burned through an area of two decares. Authorities noted that swift action by firefighting personnel successfully protected an adjacent house that faced immediate danger. The extinguishing operation involved 12 personnel from the Department of Forests using four fire engines and an agricultural tractor, supported by five firefighters and two fire engines from the Cyprus Fire Service. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by authorities.
